An outfit for Lily and some pretty sweet finds!

Outfit for lily

Outfit for lily
Bloomer pattern by Romeo & Mae I used a sheet and pre-made ruffle for this pair.
Skirt pattern by Leila & Ben I used a linen blend tank and a bit of pillow case for the pocket. (I really need to start taking before pictures)
Top pattern was a dress pattern by Heidi & Finn that I shortened. I used a pillow case and some vintage bias tape.

Now here are my cool find. They all came from that new shop down the street.

006 A vintage mu mu, I'm not sure if I'm going to refashion it or sell it..... or put it closet and make it mine!
005 Some polyester double knit.
003 A huge sheet
002and this super cool fabric. It's a heavy cotton and there is about 3+ yards. I love it!

I still haven't finished that damn sock...

I'm less then an inch away from the toe and I just can't seem to finish it.... so I haven't worked on anything new. Sigh....

I do have some super cool news, there is a new flea market type thing less then a block away from my house. Really it a couple of guys who by estates and them resell them, so the crap is pretty cheap. I picked up a couple do dads for the shop and for us. I was sad that they didn't have any vintage craft supplies, but they will have new stuff next weekend :) I've told myself that I can only go down there once in a weekend....we'll see how that goes!

Hopefully on the next post I'll have something to show you :)

Pj Refashion

Here are a super cute pair of Gnomey Pj pants I made for Lily Pie.

I finished these along with a couple other pairs a few weeks ago. I get pictures of her in them soon and post them. The fabric came from a set of PJ's my sister gave me. For the pattern I just used a pair of pants that fit her well. I'm really happy with them! Really you can't go wrong with gnomes.

I haven't really been doing anything else this week but trying to finish knitting a pair of birthday socks for DH. His birthday is tomorrow.....I might have them done, maybe.....

of to knit....

How Dare They Take Away Burger King...

This post is mostly my reactions to the reactions to this story that aired on the NBC Nightly News Apr. 8. I don't know how to post the video here but the link will take you there. Oh and by the way my BIL who is in Afghanistan is shown twice eating. Anyway, I pointed this little clip out to my SIL over on facebook because, well I thought it was funny, my BIL on the news and all. Well my husband and his family started talking about how it's so horrible that the military is pulling all the fast food out of Afghanistan and I'm sure as hell not going to post what I think over there and reinforce what a evil person I am and all. Not that I care, I just don't feel like going there with them.

Now on to my point. Why in the hell is there fast food joints in a war zone? It's a WAR not the fucking mall. Yeah, yeah, taste of home yada yada yada, have your mommy bake you some cookies and send them. There are much better things that the government could be providing for our troops, like more pay, better armor, etc. Yes I know that they need to pay for their own food, but someone has to ship the Whoppers, and that takes space that could be used for somthing a bit more important in fighting the war and I don't think FED EX delivers there. I'm not anti military so don't get the wrong idea and get your panties in a bunch, but doesn't this just reinforce what other countries think of our gluttonous society?

And The Decision Has Been Made

I'm going to try very hard to blog more. I know I've said that before...this time I really mean it!

As some of you guys have seen I've been sewing way more then I have been knitting the last year or so. I blame this, not that it"s a bad thing, on an old friend . After seeing some of the super cute things she made for her little girl I just had to dust off my sewing machine and start sewing again! Through her I found a super cool website Wardrobe Refashion. I joined and really enjoyed posting and reading about other's crafty fun and I got tons of new ideas. Well, we learned last week that the site was going to change completely and turn in to a pay site, kinda like Knitty, but not free and no site can ever be as cool as Knitty! (I'm kinda bias, I've been a member over there forever.) Anyway, I didn't really think much of it till I saw the fee. Let's just say I could knit 5 pairs of socks using Socks that Rock and still have money left over....(always back to the sock knitting for me....guess it's in my blood) Sparkly Sock Vampire..... Needless to say, I'm sad that the site is changing and that I will no long get to join in the fun. That said, that old friend has started a new website The Thrifty Garde Robe. to fill the void that Wardrobe Refashion will be leaving, and I get to help, that really fills a void that I haven't been able to fill ever since the Momma Monkey thing happened. I'm happy to be able to be apart of this new venture and you should come and check it out. It's not just for refashions, so my knitting and crocheting friends come join and post your goodies!

Now on to some of the things I've been working on, I have a ton....but you'll only see 3 outfits I made the Lily Pie and a Refashion for Gooey.

Skirt refashion for Gooey
This was a skirt that I had laying around that still had the tags on it. I got it for like nothing when the Rave store I mgt closed. Its made of a super thin gauze like cotton with sequins. I took out the zipper and the drawstring and added elastic to the top and then used the drawstring as a tie. I wanted to add another band of elastic about 4 in below the first, but I just couldn't get it right...She loves it.

To blog or not to blog...

It's been awile and I'm not sure if I feel like blogging anymore. Is this blog for me, or is it for everyone else? Do I really want to put effort in to blogging every few days, being witty, taking good I even give a fuck anymore? I don't know, I'm going to have to think about it....
